Summer 2001 Dig


Whilst investigating ridge and furrow evidence near to the village of Newton Kyme, we had our attention drawn to the possibility of a nearby medieval ford across the River Wharfe.
	Historians have suggested that it might have connected the deserted medieval villages of Toulston and Easedike.

Exceptionally low water levels provided an opportunity to excavate parts of the river bank normally inaccessible.
